Day of Tribute
Paying tribute is a longstanding tradition that dates back centuries. Families of means would often serve as benefactors to those communities that supported their agricultural and administrative efforts in rural Ethiopia. Tributes have served as a vital bridge between public services and community needs. They have empowered rural areas, fostering growth and well-being. However, with the decline of traditional benefactors, the fabric of these communities has been torn.
Our founder, Commissioner Yodit N. Gedamu, witnessed firsthand her family’s tireless struggle to uphold the inter-generational responsibility of benefaction. From afar, they impressed the need to continue supporting Ethiopian communities. Commissioner Gedamu continued in that tradition for nearly 20 years, investing resources in Ethiopian infrastructure, education, and agriculture. Recognizing that her efforts alone could not meet the overwhelming need, Commissioner Gedamu reached out to others within her network, giving birth to the "Day of Tribute."
Through this initiative, we have come together to revitalize the tradition of tribute. We have honored our heritage by empowering rural communities, investing in their future, and bridging the divide between need and opportunity.
We invite you to join us in this noble endeavor. Together, we can carry forward the legacy of tribute, ensuring that future generations inherit a world where prosperity extends to all corners of our society. By supporting "Day of Tribute," you are making a tangible difference in the lives of those who have been forgotten. You are helping to rebuild communities, restore hope, and light the way towards a brighter future. Let us embrace this opportunity to honor the past and invest in the future. Together, we can create a world where tribute is not a relic of the past but a vibrant force shaping a more just and equitable society.
