Distinguished Ethiopians, we invite all members of our beloved nation, in Ethiopia and in the diaspora, to join us in observing Saturday, November 23, 2024, as a solemn and momentous "Traditional Day of Tribute" (የባህላዊ የግብር ቀን).
This day serves as an opportunity for us to come together in service and remembrance, honoring everyday Ethiopians whose unwavering support has sustained Ethiopia's cherished traditions and institutions. We call upon Ethiopians of all backgrounds, from esteemed and time-honored leadership, to answer the call to serve their respective rural communities. Through this act of tribute, we pay homage to the profound connection that binds us to our roots and to those who have dedicated their lives to preserving our heritage.
We encourage communities across Ethiopia to work in concert with their local patrons to identify meaningful opportunities for service. Furthermore, we urge the people of these communities to observe this day with suitable ceremonies and activities that celebrate their rich heritage and their relationship with their patron. This may include historical presentations and traditional performances.
Finally we ask that all participating programs honor a Moment of Prayer at 6'oclock Ethiopian time (12:00pm EAT) in remembrance of the innocent victims who perished in the heinous terrorist attacks on Yekatit 12th.
