High Commission on Traditional Leadership & Knowledge
Headquartered in Ethiopia, the High Commission on Traditional Leadership and Knowledge serves as the implementing body of the Institution's mandates, operating at the request of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE). It is entrusted with the responsibility of supporting and advancing the nation’s traditional leadership systems and knowledge structures.
As the only institution officially authorized by the FDRE to represent Ethiopia’s diverse dynastic traditions—spanning ethnic, cultural, and religious lines—both domestically and internationally, the Institution of the Patron has tasked the High Commission with a pivotal role. It facilitates the integration of traditional leadership protocols into the federal legal system and is instrumental in safeguarding and promoting these vital cultural legacies. In doing so, the Commission underscores Ethiopia’s commitment to preserving its rich and diverse heritage within the framework of modern governance.
