Headquartered in Ethiopia, the High Commission on Traditional Leadership and Knowledge serves as the implementing body of the Institution's mandates, operating at the request of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE). It is entrusted with the responsibility of supporting and advancing the nation’s traditional leadership systems and knowledge structures.

As the only institution officially authorized by the FDRE to represent Ethiopia’s diverse dynastic traditions—spanning ethnic, cultural, and religious lines—both domestically and internationally, the Institution of the Patron has tasked the High Commission with a pivotal role.
